Calif. boy, home alone, stops robbery

FULLERTON, Calif. — A boy thwarted a burglary Tuesday by calling police from a hiding spot in his bedroom.

Three suspects knocked on the door of the home and then, thinking no one was home, entered, according to the Los Angeles Times. Fullerton Police Sgt. Andrew Goodrich said the 13-year-old boy did not answer the door because he did not know the men, but quickly called police when they came inside.

"The boy was kind of watching from whatever vantage point he had in the house," Goodrich said. "He saw them coming in and kept the dispatchers informed of what was going on."

The intruders fled and hit another vehicle as police pursued them, The OC Register reported. It was not clear if they were injured or treated.

Police arrested Los Angeles resident Deon William Oden, 23, and are seeking a woman in her 30s and another man. Oden was charged with burglary, felony evading and felony hit-and-run.
