CARTERET – Five people — four from Florida and one from New York — who were allegedly involved in using fake credit cards to make purchases at local stores have been arrested by police. Detectives believe the five were using stolen credit card numbers and putting them on fake credit cards. Police are checking with multiple agencies from Florida to New Jersey, as well as financial institutions, as to the origins of the numbers found on the various credit cards and for more victims. According to police, Oscar Valdivia, 20, of Sunrise, Florida, Enrique Domenic, 28 of Pembroke Pines, Florida, Tiffany Polinsky, 21, of Port Pierce, Florida, Carliandry Osvaldo Soto-Andrini, 23, of Miramar, Florida, and Akeem Fearon, 21, of Queens Village, New York, were arrested after they allegedly tried to buy a variety of items and gift cards at Auto Zone and Dollar Tree stores in Carteret. Around 9:30 a.m. Jan. 22, police were notified about the attempted use of stolen or fake credit cards at an Auto Zone.
