The publisher of the Daily Mirror has reported that print advertising revenues fell 16% in the third quarter, an improvement over the fall of almost 25% in the second quarter. Trinity Mirror, which also publishes the Sunday Mirror and the Sunday People, said that its appeal against the scale of the payouts awarded to eight victims of phone hacking will be heard will be heard over two days during the week of 19 October. The company said that the appeal process “has been expedited”. “At this stage we cannot be specific on the timing of the outcome of the appeal,” said Trinity Mirror. The company reconfirmed that it expects to hit its full-year targets, despite the ad slump over the summer, and remains on track to deliver £20m in savings this year. Overall publishing revenues fell by 6% with total print revenues down 8% as digital income rose 24%.
