– Saint John’s Prep is holding a parent
program on e-cigarettes and vaping.
The
informational meeting is Wednesday, October 23rd, at 6 p.m. at Saint John’s
Prep in the Weber Center. The meeting is for all parents and community members
in Central Minnesota.
Jill
Pauly, Director of Communications and Events for Saint John’s Prep, talked
about why they decided to hold the meeting.
“It’s
certainly an issue that’s been in the news recently about illness linked to
this type of thing. So, our parents, like all parents, were interested in
learning more about it.”
That’s
why the school has teamed up with Stearns County Public Health to talk about
the event.
She
talked about what parents and community members will learn at the event.
“Talk
about what the trends are and also give us some clear facts about the risks.
Then, they’re going to share some ideas on how to find out if their child is
vaping and how to break the habit.”
The
event is free, and there’s no pre-registration.
On
Wednesday and Thursday, officials with public health will go to all the
school’s classes to talk about vaping and answer any questions kids might have.
Three
people have died in Minnesota due to complications from vaping, and dozens more
have gotten sick.
