COLONIE – A Schenectady man and Clifton Park woman have been arrested in connection with an armed robbery this past week at a Colonie gas station, police said.

William H. Jersey Jr., 31, of Schenectady, and Scarlett J. O’Dell, 26, of Clifton Park, each face one count of first-degree robbery and first-degree attempted robbery. 

Jersey was arraigned and ordered held on $35,000; O’Dell on $3,500, police said.

Police arrested the pair Saturday in connection with the armed robbery of the Northway Mobil, 610 Troy-Schenectady Road Wednesday and the attempted robbery of the GameStop, 800 Loudon Road that same day, police said.

O’Dell is accused of entering the stores with a crowbar while Jersey stayed outside as the get-away driver. She brandished the crowbar, threatening to use it if the clerk didn’t hand over money. The lone clerk then handed over cash, less than $200, and the suspect fled, police said.

The Mobil robbery happened just after midnight and the Game Stop attempted robbery just before 11 a.m.

In the GameStop incident, O’Dell again brandished the crowbar and demanded money, but the clerk already had begun calling 911 and the suspect fled empty-handed, police said.

The cases came together with the help of state police in Clifton Park, as well as through tips from the public, police said.

Troopers in Clifton Park were investigating a stolen car case in Halfmoon and determined the suspect in that case, O’Dell, was possibly involved in the Colonie incidents, police said.

She was charged in the Halfmoon case and then interviewed by Colonie investigators, who then charged her with the Colonie robbery and attempted robbery.

State police charged O’Dell in the stolen car case with one count of third-degree grand larceny, records show.

Jersey, O’Dell’s boyfriend and co-defendant, was then stopped Friday night by troopers still driving the getaway car from the robberies. Troopers also found him in possession of crack cocaine, police said.

State police charged Jersey with one count of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, related to the stop, records show.

Colonie investigators then interviewed Jersey and he was charged in the Colonie incidents.

A search of the car and Jersey’s residence uncovered the crowbar used in the incidents and clothing worn in the robberies.

Jersey was arrested last summer, accused of robbing the same Mobil station, police said. In that case, Jersey demanded cash and no weapon was displayed, according to a police release at the time. That case remains pending and he was out on bail on that charge at the time of the current case, police said.
