A former teacher’s assistant at a North Hollywood elementary school was sentenced Monday to eight years in state prison for sexually abusing six female students.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Eric Harmon also ordered Lino Cabrera, who worked in a computer lab at Oxnard Street Elementary School, to register as a sex offender for life.
Cabrera, 27, of San Fernando, pleaded no contest in January to one felony count each of continuous sexual abuse and committing a lewd act on a child under 14, along with four misdemeanor counts of child molestation, in exchange for the negotiated sentence.
The Los Angeles Police Department’s Sexually Exploited Child Unit determined there were at least six victims, ages 10 and 11.
Prosecutors said the lewd conduct occurred from September 2016 and last May.
Cabrera has been held without bail since his arrest last June, according to online jail records.
