The Ultimate Fighting Championship is back in Vegas with another highly anticipated main event. UFC odds are now available, read on for our complete betting guide taking the first look at Michelle Waterson versus
Michelle Waterson vs. Angela Hill
Saturday, September 12, 2020 – 11:59 PM EDT at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas
Michelle Waterson (17-8-0)
One of the toughest mom’s in the UFC, freestyle karate black belt & well-known MMA personality Michelle Waterson will be the headline main event for the second time in her career this coming Saturday.
Born and raised in Aurora, Colorado, United States, the nickname ‘Karate Hottie’ stems from her twenty-four-year experience as an American Freestyle Karate practitioner. When transitioning into mixed martial arts, she fought her way into UFC’s sister company created for the females in MMA (Invicta FC). She notably won the Invicta Atomweight title and eventually made her way into the sights of President Dana White. The former model went from ring girl to a well-known UFC fighter within eight years.
Waterson has always remained as a ranked UFC fighter because her skill-level is up there with the best, it’s easy to detect that her losses during the time spent under a UFC banner were against elite fighters who’re all either champions or top-five ranked.
Angela Hill (12-8-1)
Former professional kickboxer (16-0) and another Invicta FC alumni Angela Hill, stepping into the octagon for the fourth time this year! Hill is seeking redemption after her three-fight win streak was lost in a split decision loss to Claudia Gadelha back in May of this year.
Born and raised in Maryland, USA, Hill’s interest in mixed martial arts stemmed from her kickboxing career. When transitioning to MMA she competed for Invicta FC, until making her UFC debut on ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ reality show.
The implications of her fight are significant, aged thirty-four if Hill wants her trajectory to continue towards title contention a win for her against ‘The Karate Hottie’ is vital.
UFC Fight Night: Waterson vs. Hill Early Prediction
How Can Hill Win?
It’s no surprise to UFC regulars that Angela Hill finds success in her striking abilities. At a distance, utilizing kicks and jabs or inside the clinch – Hill’s gameplay isn’t going to steer from what we’ve already witnessed; a striking based blueprint will be on the menu.
How Can Waterson Win?
The difference between these two ladies is an all-around ability; Waterson will give Hill some high-level karate techniques in the stand-up and also pose a grappling threat that has always caused Hill problems.
I’d expect Waterson to feel the fight out and take the game plan wherever she feels comfortable; I wouldn’t be surprised if Waterson became comfortable testing her striking skills against the kickboxer in Hill. Her defensive movement seems a tad sharper than her opponents, to where I can visualize Hill punching air.
Who Will Win?
Hill has an advantage with her high amount of activity inside the octagon this past year, while Waterson has only fought twice in the previous twelve months; Hill has competed on four occasions.
With that said, I still believe Waterson has multiple paths to victory in this contest, and she could surprise us and win the striking battle or subsequently engage in a grappling war and find success. Hill is a one-dimensional fighter who tends to fail at the highest level.
Waterson vs. Hill Betting Odds Advice
The bookmakers have opened Waterson as a +145 underdog, and the public bettors soon dragged that line down. I still like the price, but I’d take it sooner rather than later, as I believe we could see Angela Hill in a dog position by the time fight night takes place.
