A teenager in Indiana, who has been missing since April, turned out to be safe in Florida almost four months later. Her grandmother and aunt were arrested and accused of kidnapping her and trapping her in a hotel room.
Aaliyah Ramirez, 14, from Syracuse, Indiana, suddenly disappeared after being last seen to go to a bus stop on April 27, and a major Indianapolis police investigation began.
Investigations led them to Palm Beach County, Florida, where police arrested Elizabeth Sands, 47, and Alyssa Sands, 25. Elizabeth is Aaliyah’s grandmother and Alyssa is her aunt.
Aaliyah’s mother, Ashi Aspi, accused Elizabeth and Alyssa of leaving her teens in a hotel room for months.
Police confirmed that Aaliyah was in a safe and alive place, but did not comment on details about the incident, WPTV reports.

Aaliyah’s grandmother Elizabeth Sands was arrested on the left, and Aaliyah’s aunt Alyssa Sands was arrested.
Haley Toy, an Aaliyah dance instructor who has comforted her family for the past four months, said she began to tremble when she heard that her teen was finally found. WNDU report.
“I was running around this apartment. It felt good. The fact that she was safe … it makes me feel very good. I always wanted her to be still alive.” Said Toy.
The disappearance of Aaliyah came into the limelight when it was featured on popular television shows such as Dateline and the Pursuit with John Walsh.
Her video of leaving her home on Parkway Drive and going to school, recorded from a ringdoor camera, was shared online, and a social media campaign exploded online at #FindAaliyahRamirez.

Syracuse Police Station issued a silver alert to Ramirez on August 30
A silver alert was issued on April 30, three days after she went missing, and she remained active during the search.
Her father, Anthony, told Dateline NBC in May that she believed someone had kidnapped her daughter and she wasn’t the type to run away.
“I just want my daughter to go home,” Anthony said. “I want her to know she’s safe.”
Syracuse and Indianapolis police suspected that Aaliyah was in Palm Beach County with other relatives, believing that he might be at risk.
Both Elizabeth and Alyssa Sand are held in prisons in Palm Beach County.
According to police, no charges have been filed against women at this time.
