Generating awareness among the parents especially in the rural area, strengthening child protection mechanism in schools and handholding from the Government side can help curb the child sexual abuse and exploitation, he emphasized.
The two days national consultation was organised by the National Action and Coordination Group for ending Violence Against Children (NACG EVAC) India and its national secretariat, People’s Cultural Centre (PECUC), besides a host of other organisations. More than 150 delegates from 25 different States and Union Territories participated.
Addressing the valedictory session in the virtual platform Chairperson, National Commission For Protection of Child Rights Priyank Kanoongo said rights of the children cannot be suppressed and they should be given opportunity to put forward their issues. Commissioner cum Secretary, Labour and ESI Department Santhanagopalan R said children at work are more vulnerable to child sexual abuse and exploitation.
NACG EVAC India chairperson Ranjan Kumar Mohanty stressed on convergence and coordination at different levels.
