A teacher at an Easton daycare program is accused of roughly handling a toddler, according to police.

The teacher at the program at the Third Street Alliance for Women and Children allegedly tried to force feed a 17-month-old girl, yanked her by the arm from her chair, then slammed her down on her rear end twice, police said.

The incident happened at 11 a.m. Nov. 9 at the women’s shelter at 41 N. Third St. in Easton, police said.

The 31-year-old Bethlehem woman was charged with recklessly endangering a child and simple assault. She was arraigned Wednesday and released on $5,000 unsecured bail.

The executive director of the Third Street Alliance had no comment. The teacher’s attorney didn’t immediately return a message seeking comment.
