The hacker group Anonymous that made waves over the past week by hacking into BART’s rider website and released personal information about its users now claims to have struck again, this time leaking personal information about the transit agency’s police officers.
In a tweet sent out within the past hour, the group provided a link to page with the confidential information, saying it has published the names, home addresses, email addresses and passwords of who it says are 102 BART police officers.
The group first hacked into the BART servers in retaliation to the agency’s decision last week to shut down cell phone reception in the Civic Center station in San Francisco to disrupt communications between the
participants of an anticipated protest to the shooting of a homeless man in July.
Another tweet from the group announced an Aug. 22 protest at 5 p.m. outside the Civic Center station.
