PROSECUTORS have dropped all charges against a duo accused of hacking a university student’s Facebook and email accounts, and deleting his enrolment data.
In the District Court on Monday, prosecutors tendered no evidence against Jake Anthony Parker Davis, 22, of Port Noarlunga South, and Sarah Ruqayyah Salah, 23, of Melrose Park.
They pleaded not guilty to eight counts each of unauthorised modification of computer data, and faced a maximum 10-year jail term if convicted.
Prosecutors had accused them of altering the Flinders University online password of Jamie Owen Kirkpatrick and deleting him from five subjects in August 2014.
They were further accused of hacking into two of Mr Kirkpatrick’s Hotmail accounts, changing the passwords and marking data for deletion.
On Monday, prosecutors withdrew all charges against Davis and Salah — they did not give a reason, in court, for the decision.
Judge Sophie David dismissed the charges and released the duo from their bail agreements.
