Database Technician – Rotating Saturdays

Summary:           Responsible for developing, maintaining, producing, and using reports, databases, and relational database extraction tools to support management at all levels.  Assist in Account Services intranet development and maintenance.  Responsible for training and providing developmental support to team members and management.
 
Major Responsibilities:
 
1.     Monitor and administer the scheduled daily/weekly/monthly data extraction processes.
2.     Maintain and administer existing databases and reporting processes to ensure the resulting reports are accurate and distributed on time.
3.     Develop databases and reports using the complete Software Design Life Cycle.
4.     Develop, maintain, and produce capacity models based on actual and projected volumes for all department functions.
5.     Review, evaluate, and make improvement recommendations on existing databases and reports.
6.     Identify and present to senior management areas of opportunity for expense reduction and/or process improvement.
7.     Train and provide developmental support to team members and management.
8.     Interface with all managers to gather requirements for reporting.
9.     Maintain and develop intranet applications.
10.  Maintain various reports and supporting files/documentation that reside on shared servers and the intranet.
11.  Provide ad-hoc reporting as requested by management.
12.  Other duties as assigned.
 

Education:            A two-year Associate degree or Technical Trade school certification in IT, MIS, business management, or applicable computer related major.  Four-year degree preferred.
 
Experience:       Four (4) years MIS experience and 1 year of demonstrated technical/project leadership.
 
Skills:             

  • In-depth computer skills required: MS Access, MS Excel, and relational databases (including back-end SQL programming)
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated strategic planning and decision making skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and project management abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
