eBay opposed the need of legal action against privacy breach before it got hacked

eBay before getting hacked stood against the requirement of any legal response to privacy breaches. According to the company, there is no need of any penalty on the company, who is being found involved in the breach of their customers’ privacy. The company explained to Australian Law Reform Commission that the reputation damage sufficient would be enough, thus, to take legal action against privacy breach would not be a necessity.
