A new study from the University of Calgary has found that consuming caffeine-rich energy drinks such as 5-Hour Energy can lead to short-term insulin resistance in teens. Insulin resistance is a decline in the body’s ability to metabolize sugar properly. It is a factor in the development of diabetes, especially for teens with a family history of the disease.
