P.E.I. health officials are wondering what’s happened with the flu virus this year.
It’s the middle of March and so far there have only been nine lab-confirmed cases of the flu on the Island.
One person was hospitalized last week, but has since been released.
“We still feel like it’s a bit of a late season,” said Dr. Heather Morrison, the province’s chief health officer.
“We’re not seeing the number of lab-confirmed influenzas that we would have expected at this point in time. So we’re watching with interest in whether or not it’s just really late or it will not be quite as significant a season.”
The number of cases of influenza has been generally low this year across the country,” said Morrison.
