Georgia Governor, Nathan Deal (R) just signed House Bill 60, also known as the Safe Carry Protection Act of 2014, that opposers refer to as the “guns everywhere bill.” The new law allows Georgia residents, who have concealed carry permits, to take guns into certain bars, churches, school zones, government buildings and some parts of airports.
The governor said the law “will protect the constitutional rights of Georgians who have gone through a background check to legally obtain a Georgia Weapons Carry License.”
The law eliminates criminal charges against people who “accidentally” bring guns into airports or other buildings where guns are prohibited. It also expands Georgia’s Stand Your Ground law, allowing convicted felons to invoke this defense. In other words, in relation to the stand your ground law, he just signed a bill making it legal to kill Blacks. What else can it mean? With assassinations of Blacks in the last few years being excused because of controversial laws, such as stand your ground, we must be careful now more than ever. Who says history does not repeat itself? Deal just brought back the “right to kill a nigger.”
