Hacker changes mayoress’ Facebook page

MALICIOUS ACTION: Mayoress Jo Nicholls-Parker’s Facebook page, which has been attacked by a hacker.

Christchurch Mayoress Jo Nicholls-Parker’s Facebook page has been hacked.

The hacker has changed the name and password of Nicholls-Parker’s page. Nicholls-Parker has asked police to investigate.

Nicholls-Parker has more than 650 friends on her page, including several high-profile politicians.

The hacker changed her profile name to Robyn Manning and posted updates on the page.

In a post on Nicholls-Parker’s page, Mayor Bob Parker told her Facebook friends to ignore posts from the hacker.

“This is the site of Joanna Nicholls-Parker. It has been hacked. We are taking action, formal action against this person … Bob.”

Nicholls-Parker told The Press she had lost control of her page on Saturday, and could not log in until she got a new password.

“The hacker could be doing all sorts of things on my behalf. I hate to think what they are.”

Nicholls-Parker said the hack was not an isolated incident, as her page had been accessed several times before.

She believed she knew who the hacker was and why they were doing it, but did not want to reveal their name.

“At the moment, it’s with the police, and I’d rather leave it with them.”

Nicholls-Parker had asked the hacker to stop accessing her page, but said she had been forced to take action after the latest incident.

Bob Parker told The Press the hacking was “just a fact of life”, but needed to be resolved.

“When someone pretends to be you, that’s a reasonably serious offence.”

He did not think the attack was politically motivated.

Nicholls-Parker regained access to her Facebook page last night, posting: “Yes, back, finally! It was a 13 year old school girl from Christchurch – hacked my account – not even!”

These hackers/identity thieves are scum and need to be vigorously Persued by the law – pricks

And your password was Password wasn’t it. Or your birthday. Or something equally simple. Make them difficult and manage them.

Wish the police would of taken action, when my wife’s facebook account got hacked. She just now joins the thousand of other people that have had there accounts compromised. Welcome to the club robyn manning… ahem.. I mean Jo Nicholls-Parker, however this club is not that elite :)

hahaha who actually cares about this??? OMG you got hacked on FB!!! headline!!!

Change your EMAIL PASSWORD that is linked to your Facebook account ASAP!!
The way FB is hacked (usually by someone you know) is they send a reset password email from FB to your linked email, log into your email (yes they must know your email password) and click on the link to access your FB account.
And don’t take any notice of what IP address FB says accessed it as it’s easy to change with proxy servers to any country to confuse you.
So Jo, change your email PW also, hope this helps.

I think she’s done it herself for publicity??

Perhaps she should not have high profile pollies on her FB page could be courting trouble. Needs to be more discret dont you think.

Has the Press run out of news stories ?
A high percentage of Facebook accounts get hacked – just ask any teenager. Complete waste of Police resources – Does she get “special” treatment because of who she is married too or will the Police feel sorry for her because of that (I don’t know what you call it) hair style !!

This is cyber terrorism.

The Police should be involved!

What if it was your house tagged and sprayed with crap or your car smashed and bashed??

Funny Stuff. Brilliant use of police time. What a babe.
