The HTC One A9 has been run through the Geekbench benchmark test, which confirmed talk that the manufacturer’s new “Hero” phone will be powered by the MediaTek MT6797 SoC. That chipset includes a deca-core CPU. MediaTek is employing a Tri-Cluster design with dual 2.5GHz Cortex-A72 cores for heavy lifting, four 2GHz Cortex-A53 cores for medium housework, and four 1.4GHz Cortex-A53 cores for light housekeeping. Combined with the 20nm process used in production of the chip, the MT6797 uses 30% less energy than other high-end chipsets.
