On the first day of Kwanzaa, we celebrate Umoja, which means unity. The purpose of this day is to strive for and to maintain unity in the family, community, nation, and race. Though all expressions and ideas of Kwanzaa are equally important, Umoja is the foundation of success because without unity nothing can, nor will, be accomplished. Therefore, on today you should reconnect with loved ones, forgive those who have wronged you, seek those in the community who need help, and promote your positive messages and love to the nation so as community we can get stronger. From Atlanta Free Speech, we say UMOJA!
