On the fourth day of Kwanzaa, we celebrate Ujamaa (OO-JAH-MAH), which means cooperative economics. The purpose of this day is to commit to the practice of shared social wealth and the work necessary to achieve it. The Ujamaa principle empowers families to come together centered around their collective economic interest and to help their economic strength grow by sharing resources, which includes cooperative investing, buying, and selling. This practice is essential because without the principle and understanding of shared wealth, the social conditions for exploitation, oppression and inequality, as well as deprivation and suffering are increased. From Atlanta Free Speech, we say Ujamaa!
