An Independence man faces child pornography charges in the Jackson County Circuit Court after he was arrested Wednedsay.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Darren O’Dell, 46, following a lengthy investigation by members of the state highway patrol’s digital forensics investigative unit and the Missouri Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. He has been charged with three counts of possession of child pornography, a Class B felony.
O’Dell is being held in the county jail, and prosecutors have requested a $100,000 bond.
According to court records, highway patrol officers had been monitoring the Internet for downloads of child pornography and traced an IP address to O’Dell’s residence at the 2900 block of South Downey Avenue in Independence.
