POWELL, WY – A 44-year-old former volunteer firefighter in Powell will serve three and a half to five years in prison for downloading child pornography on a fire hall computer.
Dwayne “Doug” Leichner was sentenced Wednesday by District Judge Steven Cranfill after pleading no contest to five counts of possession of child pornography.
The Powell Tribune reports his pleas and sentence were the result of an agreement with the Park County Attorney’s office.
Fourteen other counts of possessing child pornography were dismissed, and Leichner will not face federal child pornography charges in connection with the images.
Prosecutor Tim Blatt says the prison term is in line with federal sentencing guidelines.
The Powell Fire Department has imposed restrictions on computer access as a result of the case.
