I’ve dreamt of you for far too long,

Spent years of training to make me strong.

For that one moment, for all to see,

Standing high on a pedestal, yeah that’s me!

To hear my country’s anthem sung,

It makes me wonder what I’ve done.

To become the greatest in my sport,

Now a gold medalist, yes me of course!

A single tear runs down my face,

As I look around this wonderful place.

I hear the cheers of fellow fans,

The support of my country that told me I can!

My country’s flag is flying high,

I feel as I can touch the sky.

I came to the Olympics with a team,

I leave as a champion, this must be a dream!

Many Athletes compete in the games,

Not too many will be household names.

The world’s best of the brave and the bold,

But only few conquer, Olympic gold!
