NEW LENOX, IL — The deadline has passed to file as candidates for local school boards, and 10 people have filed to contend for four seats on the Lincoln-Way District 210 Board of Education in the April 2023 consolidated election.
The District 210 Board of Education oversees business at the three Lincoln-Way High Schools: Central in New Lenox, East in Frankfort, and West in New Lenox. Board members serve a four-year term. Their duties and responsibilities include: selecting a Superintendent; establishing general policies for the school system; employment of school personnel upon recommendation of the superintendent; adopting an annual budget and approving all expenditures; informing the public of the needs and the progress of the educational system; and exercising the legislative powers conferred or implied by the legislature in administering school functions.
The district draws in students from five elementary school districts: Frankfort 157-C, Manhattan 114, Mokena 159, New Lenox 122, and Summit Hill 161.
