One person died of gunshot wounds Saturday evening in Gardnerville and those involved have been detained as part of the investigation, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident happened just after 9:30 p.m. in the 1400 block of Bumblebee Drive in Gardnerville. According to DCSO undersheriff Ron Elges, deputies arrived on scene and found a male deceased of gunshot wounds.

All parties were located, detained and an investigation is currently being conducted, said Elges. There is no threat to the community.

Meanwhile, earlier Saturday, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office put out a press release that it had received a report of a single male walking on the Faye Luther trailhead carrying an AR 15 style weapon.

DCSO responded to the area and were able to contact the male near the trailhead. The investigation determined the male had not committed any crimes in Douglas County and he was released at the scene, the release states.

Alpine County Sheriff’s Office as well as US Forest Service were also on scene investigating if any crimes occurred in their respective jurisdictions, the release states.

Faye Luther trailhead was re-opened to public access. There is no threat to the community, the release states.
