A Christchurch primary school is asking for information about an intruder who broke into one of its buildings over the weekend.

The intruder was caught on CCTV at Te Kāpehu Riccarton School on Saturday morning.

A statement on the school’s social media page from principal Paul Irving said the break-in occurred shortly after 11am.

Irving said a teacher was at the school working on Saturday while the intruder was breaking in.

The teacher came across the offender during the incident.

“She is fine but obviously shaken,” the statement said.

Police confirmed somebody broke into the school’s admin building. However, it appeared nothing was taken during the incident.

Nobody has been arrested in connection with the incident.

“Police are investigating. These are the best photos we have and it was around 11.15am-11.45am,” Irving said.
