El Paso County sheriff’s investigators arrested a former teacher and coach at Fabens High School who is accused of having a sexual relationship with a student, authorities said.
Cale James Danielson, 27, surrendered and was booked into jail Aug. 17 on a charge of improper relationship between an educator and student. Danielson was released from jail that same day under a $50,000 bond, the Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday.
Danielson was a teacher and an assistant football coach for the Fabens Wildcats, according to online rosters.
An investigation began June 20 when sheriff’s deputies responded to a home in Fabens regarding allegations that a Fabens coach was sending inappropriate text messages to a student, according to a Sheriff’s Office news statement.
An investigation by detectives with the Major Crimes Unit allegedly found that Danielson and a student had an improper relationship and had sex inside the locker room at Fabens High School on June 16, officials said.
The age and gender of the student were not disclosed.
