TURA | JUNE 26, 2020:
Two persons including a teacher have been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a 12-yr-old girl in South West Garo Hills (SWGH) district of Meghalaya recently.
The incident came to light after several students, who apparently witnessed the incident of the teacher’s sexual assault, informed the others following which the teacher was caught and then handed over to the authorities.
The 12-year -old minor, according to reports, is mentally challenged.
It was reported that the accused teacher was not the only perpetrator. The victim’s brother-in-law had also subjected the girl to sexual assault. His crime was unearthed only later when the victim started speaking to the police.

Confirming the arrests, the Superintendent of Police, SWGH, Rithuraj Ravi S said that the teacher was arrested three days ago, June 23 while her brother-in-law was arrested on June 24.
“We arrested the teacher in the case and then after speaking to the girl, we came to know that she was sexually assaulted by her brother-in-law as well. Two separate cases have been registered and further investigation is currently in progress,” said Ravi.
The case has been booked under the POCSO Act as well.
