On Thursday, October 24, the Knox County Sheriff’s Office confirmed an investigation was underway.
A KCSO spokesperson said charges had not been filed as of 10:30 a.m. Thursday. The investigation was still in the “preliminary stages.”
Hardin Valley Academy released a statement to WVLT through Facebook saying, “Thanks for your concern. This is unacceptable behavior and we are taking appropriate action.”
Knox County Schools released a statement on the issue that said officials were aware of the video and were investigating.
WVLT blurred the video to protect the identity of the minors involved.
The video shows one student repeatedly punching another while children gathered around and captured video.
The video drew outrage on social media from parents across East Tennessee.
