Police arrested a man at Nagarpur in Tangail on Friday in connection with a complaint lodged by a female teacher of a college over molestation allegation.
Nagarpur police station officer-in-charge Alam Chand said they arrested Babu, owner of Moon Pharmacy on Taltala Road of Nagarpur, at about 12:30pm, for reportedly molesting the teacher on Thursday.
The officer said that the teacher of a local government college went to buy an eyeglass from a shop she did not know the location on Taltali Road.
She asked a group of people, including former Nagarpur Government College Students Union vice-president Mamun, Nagarpur Bangladesh Awami Juba League joint convener Biplob and trader Babu, for the location of shop at about 8:00pm on Thursday.
The people, however, got into an altercation with the teacher and at one stage molested her and pulled apart her clothes, said the officer quoting the complaint of the woman.
OC Alam Chand also said that the teacher lodged the complaint with police at 10:30am on Friday and they managed to detain Babu.
Police are trying to arrest the rest two people, he added.
