the District Conference Room. During the board meeting, the minutes from the November 3, 2022 regular
board meeting were approved along with financial statements for the month of October, 2022.
Superintendent Rick Turner welcomed the following guests to the meeting: Scott Truxell with The VW
Independent, Sam Shriver with the Times Bulletin, Mrs. Angie Fahy, Adult Education Director, Mrs. Amy
Grothouse, Junior Cosmetology Instructor, Mrs. Susie Smith, Senior Cosmetology Instructor, and students
Makenna Elliott (Wayne Trace), Hannah Brinkman (Ottoville), Payton Waltmire (Crestview), and Ashten
Dunn (Wayne Trace).
Mr. Turner also spoke about and highlighted the following items at the meeting:
➢ We thank the voters in the Vantage district for supporting our .8 mill operating renewal levy.
Passage of this levy will allow us to continue to offer high quality technical skills training for our
students and businesses.
➢ This week, the Senate Education Committee held a second hearing on SB 178—legislation that
proposes to restructure the Ohio Department of Education and create a new Division of Career
Technical Education. We are closely monitoring the progress of this bill as passage would
fundamentally change the structure of our governance.
In his written report, Vantage High School Director Benjamin Winans thanked our Vantage Student
Ambassadors for their work toward the annual Veteran’s Day Flag sale and Jeans Day fundraiser. The total
amount raised was $913.28. This money will be donated to the Middle Point Am-Vets Post 698. On
Veteran’s Day, the “Flag Field” was displayed on the front lawn at Vantage in honor of those that served
and are currently serving.
In other happenings occurring at Vantage, The Interact Club is currently raising money for Toss-A-Toy. The
students are siding the carpentry house on Raymond Street and have begun the drywall work on the
inside. The Threat Assessment Team held their quarterly meeting and discussed ways to continue to
keep our students and staff safe.
Mr. Winans also reported the following upcoming events:
➢ December 5-9 End of Course Retakes
➢ December 22, 2022-January 3, 2023 Winter Break (Classes resume on January 4, 2023)
Adult Education Director Angie Fahy reported on the following items:
➢ Searching for Welding, STNA, and CDL instructors.
➢ Customized Training- working with several companies to train their employees
➢ STNA courses- continuing to provide all area long term care facilities with classes to accommodate
their needs
➢ CDL- final adult education class has begun for the year. Currently we have 18 high school students
enrolled in the program.
➢ EMT- several customized classes running. They are currently enrolling for the January class at
Vantage.
In new business, the Board:
➢ Approved a list of employees
➢ Employed an Adult Education Instructor
➢ Appointed a President Pro-Tem for the January Organizational meeting
➢ Accepted two resignations
➢ Approved the Rothacker-Lampe Bequest equipment list
➢ Accepted one donation
➢ First Reading of a list of NEOLA new and revised policies
➢ Resolution to reappoint Rick Turner as Superintendent for a three year term
➢ Pursuant to Ohio Revised Code Section 121.22(G)(1), the Superintendent hereby requests that the
Board adjourn to executive session for the purpose of considering personnel matters of the school
district.
