MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. — A Mountain View patrol car and a pickup truck collided Wednesday night, causing injuries to the occupants of both vehicles.

The crash happened at 8:20 p.m. near the intersection of Middlefield and North Whisman roads, according to police spokesman Lynn Brown. The officer, who was responding to a call at the time, was driving east on Middlefield Road.

The Mountain View Fire Department responded to the scene, but the occupants of both vehicles were able to extricate themselves. The officer as well as the driver and passenger of the pickup truck were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Brown said.

Details such as whether the officer was driving with his lights and siren on were not immediately available Wednesday night. The collision was still being investigated as of 11:30 p.m., Brown said.
