Raipur Khurd man held for posing as PMO official

The cyber crime cell of the UT police today arrested a 24-year old youth, Raj Kesarwani, for making calls to the Personal Assistant (PA) of the UT Adviser, introducing himself as an official posted in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and asking for personal favours.The accused fell in the police trap due to his ‘boastful’ nature as he used to tell those around that he had good links in the PMO. He had even called other offices of Punjab and Haryana posing as an official from the PMO and asked for personal favours.The police said Surjit Singh, PA to the UT Adviser, reported, on 17 September, 2015, that at about 11 am, he received a call on the official telephone in which the caller posed as an official from the PMO and asked if he could talk to Vijay Kumar Dev, the Adviser to the UT Administrator. Surjit Singh informed the caller that the Adviser was not in the office. After hearing the same, the caller asked for a personal favour. He stated that a government quarter be allotted to a UT police constable, Attar Singh, in Sector 22.He again called afterwards to ensure that the work should be done. […]
