A local reverend is behind bars today after a grand jury indicted him on child sex abuse charges.
The Rev. Edwin White, 39, is facing three counts of child sex abuse after he was arrested by a U.S. Marshal Wednesday. The counts are for acts against three different children younger than 12, according to Mobile County District Attorney Ashley Rich.
“A victim came forward to the Child Advocacy Center,” Rich said, “and the case has been processing through the Child Advocacy Center.”
The district attorney said the alleged crimes are not related to the church where White preaches. According to the First Baptist Church of Prichard website, White is an associate minister there.
