New Delhi: Security has been beefed up at the Supreme Court after it received an email threat to blow it up in retaliation for the execution of 1993 Mumbai blasts convict Yakub Memon. “The threat mail was received on the court’s official email address last Monday afternoon. The mail in English language threatenen to blow up the court building after the recent judgment on Yakub Memon’s hanging,” police sources said yesterday. The sources said the email was sent on supremecourt@nic.in. “The case has been forwarded to the special cell and cyber cell which along with the district police are trying to trace the source of the email,” the sources added. Security at the Supreme Court complex has meanwhile been beefed up with deployment of more Rajasthan police personnel. Following the threat, the Supreme Court issued an advisory that law trainees would not be allowed entry in the high security zone within the complex. “The competent authority has directed that the entry of law trainees and law students to the high security zone will be restricted for one month,” said a circular issued by the apex court.
