Residents of the Pueblo metropolitan area are the eighth-highest in the nation for risk when it comes to identity theft, according to a new report by NerdWallet. The report found that from December 2011 through Sept. 14, 2015, residents of Pueblo filed 252 identity theft complaints total, or 156.1 per 100,000 residents based on data from the Federal Trade Commission. Pueblo was the only Colorado metro on the report, which listed the top 50 metros with the highest rates of identity theft. The Miami-Fort Lauderdale-West Palm Beach metro had the highest number of identity theft complaints, a total of 18,428 — 316.2 per 100,000. The state of Colorado is not far off either, coming in at No. 14 out of all 50 states and Washington D.C. for identity theft.
