CENTERVILLE – When a Skunknet Road home was robbed Monday, the police put out a bulletin for officers to be on the look out for suspects Christine Ferreira and Peter Gonsalves.

But the police search was done for them when the pair turned up in a car crash Thursday. Shortly before noon, Ferreira, 23, of Hyannis and another driver crashed at the intersection of Route 28 and Old Stage Road in Centerville, Barnstable police Detective Sgt. John Murphy said.

Gonsalves, 24, of Falmouth, was sitting in Ferreira’s passenger seat, Murphy said.

Investigators began looking for the pair after Barnstable police Detectives Jason Laber and John York discovered Ferreira and Gonsalves were allegedly attempting to sell property from the home that had been robbed Monday. The missing items included a television set, lap top computer, electric guitar and a camera, Murphy said.

Ferreira and Gonsalves have a history of prescription drug abuse and prior arrests, Murphy said.

Following a visit to Cape Cod Hospital for treatment of minor injuries resulting from the crash, both suspects were transported to Barnstable police station and charged with receiving stolen property over $250, breaking and entering in the daytime, and larceny over $250.

Laber later was able to recover all of the stolen property, including several items the theft victims did not realize had been stolen such as a set of rosary beads found in Ferreira’s purse. The beads were owned by the victim’s deceased grandmother, Murphy said. Both suspects were held overnight at the police station and face arraignment in Barnstable District Court on Friday.
