Social media can be a place where racists spread messages of intolerance and terrorists radicalize young people. In order to promote a respectful online environment, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and Microsoft have pledged to review hate speech, and other racist, violent, or illegal content posted on their sites, within 24 hours. They have also agreed to push content that promotes tolerance and non-discrimination, helping to prevent hate speech from going viral.
