UMi is a little-known company, which probably shined brightest last year, when it announced its $299 top-tier phone – the Zero. It had a MediaTek 6592 SoC, 2 GB of RAM, a 5”, 1080p Super AMOLED display, a 2,400 mAh battery, and a super-thin 6.4 mm body. Naturally, as with all handsets coming from the far East, managing to actually grab one of these bang-for-the-buck phones wasn’t exactly a walk in the park, so the company didn’t really make a name for itself in the western markets.
Either way, UMi seems determined to create some extra buzz around the Zero’s successor …
