By PoliceOne Staff NEW YORK — Several police officers confronted four combative girls in a subway station Friday after the girls tried to get on the train without paying, sources said.
A video recorded and posted to YouTube by a bystander shows officers attempt to control the girls, who jumped the turnstile and then refused to back down when officers asked them to leave, according to reports.
The original YouTube video has been set to private since it was posted, but news footage from MyFoxNY shows some of the altercation. Sources said the officers repeatedly told the girls to stop resisting, and witnesses agree that they seemed to be provoking police.
One girl hit an officer in the face with her bag and told police to "get the **** off my cousin," according to CBS New York. Sound is missing from the MyFoxNY version of the video, but officers appear to be restrained in their use of force.
All four girls were arrested and charged with resisting arrest, obstruction, and assaulting a police officer.
"I think they should have got off the train," a bystander said. "I don’t think they should have swung at police."
