FORT MYERS: A routine traffic stop resulted in the arrest of three people accused of possessing counterfeit credit cards and fraudulent driver’s licenses Tuesday.
A detective patrolling Interstate 75 near Colonial Boulevard pulled over a 2000 Jeep Cherokee for having illegal window tint and a registration violation, according to a Lee County Sheriff’s Office report.
During the traffic stop, the detective noticed the SUV’s three occupants were acting nervous.
The detective also reportedly smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle and said the trio had inconsistent travel plans.
The suspicious behavior prompted the detective to search the vehicle, resulting in the discovery of five cloned credit cards and five Florida driver’s licenses that included photographs of the suspects, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators also found four small baggies of pot inside the SUV.
Maria Anzalone, 46; Michel Santana, 31; and Raydel Castaneda, 39; were arrested and taken to the Lee County Jail for booking.
They were each charged with possession of counterfeit credit cards, possession of fraudulent driver’s licenses, and possession of ID without consent of another.
Santana was additionally charged with possession of marijuana and possession of a suspended driver’s license.
Castaneda faces an additional charge of driving while suspended.
