Black history: GM VP Alicia Boler-Davis

Alicia Boler-DavisAlicia Boler-Davis was recently named   Senior Vice President of Global Connected Customer Experience  at General Motors (GM). In this role, her goal is to ensure driving is innovative and interesting for consumers. GM is currently at the 2015 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, which runs through Jan. 9th, which is a car centric showcase to explore new ways that consumers will interact with vehicles. Ms. Boler-Davis’ GM division has recently announced a variety of new initiatives including AtYourService, which is an expanded shopping focused product of the company’s OnStar subscription program. AtYourService will allow drivers to take advantage of coupons and other discounts fed to the car via its on-board wi-fi, as well as have live operators book discount same-day hotels using Priceline.com.

Alicia Boler-Davis began her GM career in 1994 as a manufacturing engineer at the midsize/luxury car division in Warren, Michigan. During her career, she has held many positions of increasing responsibility in manufacturing, engineering, and product development. Boler-Davis was named senior vice president, global connected customer experience in November 2014. She leads GM’s efforts to provide customers with the best service and overall experience in the industry. From July 2013 to November 2014, Boler-Davis was senior vice president, global quality and global customer experience. Under her leadership GM redefined customer care and its interaction with customers through social media channels and customer engagement centers.

Boler-Davis is a huge proponent of STEM (Science Technology Engineering Mathematics) for young girls. She feels “at the elementary level, girls are just as strong and capable in math and science areas however something happens in middle school that is the critical point”. The early teenage years is the critical time that we should be encouraging girls that they can do math and science as well as anyone. Boler-Davis is a testament to excellence within the STEM field and beyond by achieving her high ranking position within General Motors.
