Professional organizer, Naeemah Ford Goldson is the owner & marketing director of Restore Order Professional Organizing, LLC, which was founded in February 2013. From a marketing standpoint, Naeemah handles social media, sales, marketing, company website and public relations. As a professional organizer, she assesses her client’s homes and businesses to help them organize their residential and commercial spaces.

Born in Staten Island, New York, Naeemah is the fifth of eight kids. She enjoyed her childhood as she and her siblings were extremely close. At the age of 10, Naeemah’s parents divorced, which led to her mother relocating to Omaha to be closer to loved ones. From this experience, Naeemah learned at a young age how to adapt to change, as the move was difficult for her initially, since Omaha wasn’t as diverse as New York. Reluctantly, Naeemah stayed in Omaha during her college years, however she had a wonderful experience and made lasting friendships at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, where she earned a degree in Broadcasting with a minor in Black Studies.

Naeemah’s route to entrepreneurship is quite different from what many would expect. After the birth of her first child, she chose to resign from her job to stay home and raise her son for the first year of his life. During her time at home, she discovered a show called The Amandas, which is about a professional organizer and her company. Naeemah thought to herself, “hey I love organizing,” as she has been organized her entire life and enjoys helping others consolidate; ergo organizing would be a great business for her to start. The new mom wanted to start her own business her entire adult life, but wasn’t sure what type of business she would like to own until watching the show.

Although excited about her new business venture, Naeemah decided to go back to work for a year or two before she started her professional organizing company. When her son was about 10 months old, she began her job search in her career field and landed interviews for two positions at a company she previously worked for, but did not get either position. So she kept applying for jobs but was no longer receiving calls for interviews. After 6 months of job searching, she couldn’t understand why she was having so much difficulty finding work. Naeemah felt as though she was being punished for taking on the most important job of raising her son. One day while speaking with her oldest sister Takiya, she told Naeemah she should probably go ahead and start the professional organizing business. After their conversation, Naeemah thought, why not? That was the validation she needed to step out on faith and start Restore Order Professional Organizing, LLC. During her first year in business, Naeemah’s company won the Kudzu Best of 2013 Award for Professional Organizers in Atlanta.

The person who has had the most influence on Naeemah’s life is her encouraging and loving mother. She watched her mother return to school to pursue nursing and successfully raise eight children on her own. “I really appreciate her being my mom. I have learned so many of life’s lessons just from being her daughter. She has always been my number one supporter and believes in me when I don’t even believe in myself.”

Naeemah’s motivation comes from her ambitious personality and her strong upbringing. Knowing that she has goals set for herself is enough to motivate her to get things done. She is most passionate about being a mom to her two boys who are 3 and 7.5 months old. Once she gave birth to her first son, she felt as though she wasn’t new to motherhood and that this was one of her greatest purposes in life.

Naeemah is a proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. and understands the importance of giving back to her community. As a result, she has provided her services to Lift Up Atlanta, which is a charity that gives support to homeless and hungry women and children in the Atlanta area. As a volunteer, she helped them organize their storage closets and school supplies for a back-to-school drive.

Since studying broadcasting in school, Naeemah has always desired to be on-air. Her current goal is to become a national organizing expert, which will allow her to make appearances on various television shows and provide segments on organizing tips. Naeemah also plans to write a book on organizing in the near future. “God has blessed me with the gift of organizing and connecting to people. I am excited about sharing those gifts with the world.”
