Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 5 (PTI) Computer Emergency Response
Team-Kerala (CERT-K) prevented a major cyber threat on
government sites by hackers on New Year eve, a top official of
CERT-K said here today.

“Based on alerts received from intelligence sources, the
team, formed in tune with national CERT-India, took preventive
measures to check the hacking,” CERT-K Director N Krishnan
told reporters here.

He said around 40 incidents of hacking of government sites
occurred in the last one and half months and the team
successfully traced the IP addresses.

Krishnan said CERT-K would also take up cyber crime
complaints of private parties. In this context, it would look
into the recent hacking of KPCC site if any formal request was
made on that.

Similarly, CERT-K would coordinate with law enforcement
agencies to check and remove any obscene pictures or contents
from sites in case any complaint was lodged.
