WRENTHAM – The town’s website was hacked into Sunday and replaced by an image of a skull with crossbones, but was partially restored by Thursday.
Most pages have been brought back, but information on the home page remains missing from view, and it is unclear when that will return, local officials say.
The firm that oversees the site informed the town an “act of mischievousness” led to the problem.
Meeting notices are again accessible on the site through the town clerk’s page, but earlier in the week had to be posted the old fashioned way in the lobby of the public safety building.
“It’s just inconvenient for us,” Town Clerk Carol Mollica said.
Town officials say they haven’t been hit with complaints from residents and stress no information was compromised.
“It has happened in the past, once or twice,” selectmen Chairman Joseph Botaish said.
