Hacker Sends Anti-Gay Emails To Clark County Chamber Members

Clark County’s Chamber of Commerce says someone hacked its server last night, sending anti-gay emails out to members.

The Chamber’s Director, Izad Khormaee says a chamber staffer saw unauthorized emails coming in. Two messages asked members to refrain from listing any businesses that involved the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender communities. One email suggested such businesses have no place in Clark County. The second suggested the Chamber’s website would be better if such, quote “immoral” businesses stayed out.

Khormaee says he believes most members could recognize the emails were out of character with the Chamber’s principles.

“I think the majority of the people realized that’s the case. But still, from an organizational point of view it’s very horrifying to see something like that going out under your name,” says Khormaee.

Khormaee says he has no idea who hacked the group’s server. All he has to go on is an IP number. He thinks a server in the Netherlands may have been involved.
