JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – The Jonesboro Police Department is investigating two incidents involving credit or debit card fraud. Two incidents occurred last week where people reported strange charges to their bank accounts. Two suspects were arrested in one case on Thursday. A Jonesboro man reported an incident the very next day after he received texts from his bank. The charges on his card included transactions from Kroger, two Dollar Generals, a Kum & Go and Mansfield in located in Bayou La Batre, Alabama. The investigation is still ongoing and police are looking into the possibility that the suspects from the other case may be involved in this one. Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge says her office has seen a lot of cases involving fraud. She said the people stealing information use what is called a cloned card. “A cloned card is basically someone cloning your credit card information and stealing that information for criminal purposes,” Rutledge said. Paul Holmes with the Jonesboro Police Department said this can happen anywhere with enough traffic. “It can happen anywhere,” Holmes said. “Anywhere that there is a large number of these transactions.
