On the seventh day of Kwanzaa we celebrate Imani, which means faith. The purpose of this day is to believe and trust in ourselves, our community, as well as our ability to overcome adversity while making progress together. In the context of African spirituality, faith begins with belief in the Creator and seeing good in all that is created. Positive thinking in relation to the creation should logically lead one to believe in the essential goodness, as well as the possibilities of the human mind and capability, which itself is great. However, it is only great because of one’s faith.
