This is a long video for me. But if you are a developer or IT leader you need to hear this. Argue all I want, but you know this is true, even if you don’t want to hear all of it. Computer Science is becoming a mature space, and the day of the cowboy programmer is dead. You have to do things the “Right” way, the Scalable way, the secure way. You have to have a plan and know who to execute it. We no longer can develop as hackers tacking things on as we see fit. The standards of service, privacy, and analytics have changed too much to take the “Hacker Way” any more. Mark Zuckerberg took a decade to get where he is. Facebook and Twitter have changed the game, so it is harder for all of us who follow.
